Our 8th-grade FACS-Cooking class is partnering with our tiniest Lumberjacks this year! About twice a month, Mrs. Vandermeulen's Targeted Kindergarten (TK) class takes the long walk down to the middle school hallways to visit Mrs. C’s FACS classroom.
Every other Friday, these two classes team up to cook a fun treat or assemble a healthy snack. This partnership offers a unique opportunity for our middle school students to step up as campus mentors while helping our littlest Lumberjacks build meaningful school-wide connections.
Through these cooking sessions, the TK students practice social skills, develop fine motor skills, and gain independence. It is an absolute joy to witness the laughter, see the bright smiles, and hear the conversations from both age groups—the 8th graders are always just as excited for Friday cooking days as the TK students!
